Hanover, November 29th, 2018. Mabor today announced a voluntary tire exchange program covering 332 Mabor Sport Jet 3 tires in 205/50 R 17 93 Y. Due to the use of a not specified tread compound material, the tires could potentially have a tread separation. This could result in tread material loss with possible negative effect on vehicle handling. To date, Mabor has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in connection with this condition. The exchange program is being initiated voluntarily to avoid any potential risk to vehicle drivers and other road-users. The affected tires were delivered to customers in Portugal.
The affected Mabor tire can be identified as follows:
Article description | DOT serial numbers |
Mabor Sport Jet 3 205/50 R 17 93 Y | DOT 6G7P VPB1 4118 |
The last four digits of the DOT serial numbers indicate the production period (week/year). Affected tires will be replaced free of charge. No other tire sizes, production periods or product lines are affected.
Mabor’s owner Continental began notifying the respective national authorities on November 29, 2018 and is in contact with its tire dealers to organize and implement this voluntary exchange program. Anyone seeking more information, including instructions for identifying affected tires and local contact partner, are invited to visit Uniroyal’s respective website https://www.mabor-tyres.com/car/service.
